AJI PROJECT develops products from local Aji stone in collaboration with artisans in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. Under the title “OMORI,” AJI PROJECT will present new objects developed with 10 designers from Japan and abroad.
“OMORI,” meaning “weight,” refers to what can be considered the most fundamental property of stone. Inspired by this concept, the designers created objects that expand the conventional notion of stone. Rather than simply making products from stone, they explore ways to give the material new functions and meanings.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature the “READY MADE” collection, which repurposes and recontextualizes offcuts from Aji stone production, giving them new roles and significance.
We invite you to visit the exhibition and experience the weight of stones while engaging with the designers’ light and innovative ideas that challenge and shake conventional perceptions of stone.
